Pittsburg, CA - March 5, 2008 - A group of some 70 people from the heavily industrialized communities in the East Bay Area of Contra Costa County gathered in Pittsburg, CA to hear presentations regarding terrorism awareness and protection of critical infrastructure.  Participants heard from and asked questions of speakers from the Governor's Office of Homeland Security (OHS), the Los Angeles Police Dept. (LAPD) anti-terrorism unit, FBI InfraGard Program, and the Northern California Regional Terrorist Threat Assessment Center (NC-RTTAC).

Frank Quiambao, Special Assistant for the Director of CA OHS; Capt. Horace Frank, LAPD; Special Agent Shena Crowe, FBI and San Francisco region InfraGard coordinator; Richard Davies, Executive Director-Western Disaster Center; and Brandon Bond, Private Sector Liaison Officer NC-RTTAC each made presentation and answered questions and spoke with attendees during and after the meeting.

Also featured on the program were representatives of Abraxas Applications (Reston, Virginia), developers and suppliers of counter-surveillance, anti-terrorism software know as TrapWireTM.  Abraxas President Jack Reis, with the assistance of Dan Johnson, Sr. Account Executive, provided a fascinating demonstration of the power of integrating counter-surveillance data within and across a network of critical infrastructure sectors.

The briefing was cosponsored by the Chemical Industry Council of CA (CICC) and the Industrial Association (IA) of Contra Costa County.

On behalf of CICC and IA, we wish to thank all of the speakers for taking time from their very busy schedules to share their experience and knowledge.  We also want to thank the attendees for their participation and questions, and the Wedgewood Banquet staff for their professional service and great buffet.  CICC also thanks Scott Anderson, Executive Director of the Industrial Association, for helping to make the event possible.
