CICC Co-Sponsors "CFATS" Conference

CSU Long Beach Campus - 07/31/08

The State of California, Governor's Office of Homeland Security, the Chemical Industry Council of California, and the Homeland Security Law Firm of Steven E. Roberts, P.A. were pleased to present a "Conversation on the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) and Critical Infrastructure Protection" on Thursday, July 31  at the California State University, Long Beach.

The conference explored the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's new chemical security regulations and their impact in the State of California. Experts from the public and private sectors offered practical knowledge and timely advice regarding CFATS, including implementation and policy considerations.  Opening remarks were provided by Frank Quiambo, Special Assistant to Director of the Governor's Office of Homeland Security.

CICC is particularly indebted to Ted Cromwell, Sr. Director for Security and Operations, at the American Chemistry Council and J'on Rider, Corporate Security Officer, for Gallade Chemical - a National Accoc of Chemical Distributors (NACD) Members.  We also want to acknowledge and thank Jennifer Gibson , V.P. NACD Federal Gov't Affairs (and CICC Board Member) for her assistance in key preparing briefing materials and slides.  The participation and assistance of these individuals greatly contirbuted to the success of this first CFATS conference.

A second conference is planned for Oakland on August 21st.  Please see details on www.cicc.org Welcome page.
